Mike, if you like the calendar, why not switch to Zvents on your blog?. You can quickly pull in public events of your interest, mix it with your own, and publish it on the blog.

WebsiteOptimization.com reports that your Main Page is loading 75 objects totalling 917K (almost 1 MB):

15 Javascripts are required to fetch data from 9 different sources including Technorati, Sitemeter, Statcounter, Mapstats, etc. None of these Javascripts are hosted on your BlogHarbor hosted weblog, and a delay in response from any one of these sources will cause your visitors' browser to pause since it can not render the page until all the data has arrived...

51 Images load from 15 different external services, such as Flickr, Technorati, Blogflux, creativecommons, and so on. Again, a delay in response from any of those remote servers will cause the browser to pause...

4 Flash players need to load from You tube...

Your slow load times are due to the 15 third party Javascripts. That's a tremendous amount of overhead in page rendering time. If any one of those services does not promptly return data to the browser, then the browser will have to wait...

I know you well enough by now that you're skeptical and don't believe me one bit. ;-) You can always verify, though...

Remove the 15 remote Javascripts and load your page again, or ask anyone else who thought your page was slow, and see if it loads faster... Dollars to donuts your page load times are significantly faster. Reduce the number of Javascripts on the page by removing the ones with the poorest performance, and your blog host will suddenly become so much speedier.
