This makes no sense. If the receivers were strong enough to charge a batter I could have a room full of those powercast receivers and get more charge than the broadcaster puts out. Either the broadcaster has to put out so much power that it would seriously be illegal or the receivers receive almost no power. Snake oil this is. The only products out are those little lights and the little lights do not have the receiver chip connected to them, they have long antennas coming out of them, move them close to any source of radiation and they will light up as they do at many science fair projects.

I doubt Powercast will make their own chips. They'll contract with an existing chip maker. Have they announced a partnership? If so, I'd invest in that company.

notice on Powercast website picture of reconfigured sensor. They are using XL Pure Energy AAA rechargeable alkaline batteries in conjunction with their power harvestor.

This battery is ideal for Powercast.

-likes to be charged often (trickle charge is best)

-holds its charge for 7-9 years

I have to agree that this is truly astonishing. Like others who have heard this, I’ve spent most of the morning since I watched the demo considering all the ways this might be used. And I do understand, as some have said here, that this is a product still in its infancy, but that’s what makes it so astounding. Of course it hasn’t been harnessed yet, or developed to the point where it can supply more power to bigger devices, but just imagine what will happen when it does reach that point. Consider what life would be like if we lived in a world without power lines or cords. My one question will show my technological ignorance, but what are the potential health/ safety risks with this new technology? It does strike me as odd that we are going to be putting electricity into the air. We’re only just beginning to discover the dangers cell phone use can have in terms of causing tumors; are there hidden risks to be found here as well?

You should do your research before getting critical. Tesla experimented with this sort of thing 100 years ago. Not having surgery to recharge your pacemaker is a VERY BIG DEAL.

I checked their web site and looked for their patents. While they talk a good game the numbers don't add up. It may "work" but the amount of power derived won't charge a battery in a reasonable amount of time. In other words its only useful if you turn on your cell phone for an hour at a time every few weeks....
