A very informative posting. It's nice to see an attempt to bring an affordable SaaS solution to market, even if it falls short of others out there. I would point out that Sage offers a hosted solution using the Sage Accpac ERP product line, which features integration with SageCRM, manufacturing and field service management solutions. It's actually less expensive than NetSuite. By the way, in 2010, Sage is going to release the next generation of Accpac that will run using Ajax technology. I've seen a working alpha and it really impressed me by its clean and functional layout, roles-based set-up options and customizable interface. The nice thing about the next generation of Accpac is that it's really just a UI update as Accpac is run on 3 layers: the underlying database, the business logic and the UI. Making changes like this is a lot less painful and makes for a much easier upgrade path for existing Sage Accpac customers. If you're looking for view of the Accpac's next generation along with a product vision, check out the Mindover Software website at: www.mindovercorp.com.

Hi Zoli,

I retired from accounting about 10 years ago, and am unfamiliar with NetBooks. from the name, I'm presuming it's an online system with login and all that stuff. Any ideas on their pricing structure, and does it have a practitioners module or version?

Hello, Zoli. Thanks for the article. I actually write you from Apatar to let you know that we launched a hosted version of our application that can synchronize data between QuickBooks and Salesforce. You can check it out and give us your opinion as you did with NetBooks. (you may find the solution here http://www.salesforce.com/appexchange/detail_overview.jsp?id=a0330000005kn33AAA). We plan to introduce more solutions in future, so watch this space)Thank you. Keep up the good work with the blog

As the owner of a VSB I'm a candidate for this software.

They'd do themselves a tremendous favor (marketing-wise) if one of the menu choices said "Hate us? Here's how you can bail out easily, simply, with all your data intact, and pick right up with $COMPETITION."

Until they show me the exit, I'm not going to consider the entrance.

Oh. Price. Eh.
