Earthquake in China – Twitter Beats News Services

Scobleizer @dotBen says there was just a big earthquake in Chine and it’s not yet on BBC’s site.

the above came from Twitter.  The news is nowhere to be found on Google or Google News either.  If true (hope not…), twitter just beat the major news services again.

A weird co-incidence, I just read this earlier today:

Report: Next major earthquake on Hayward fault will be catastrophic

Update: here’s the USGS report, and the first news from Fox News – still nowhere else.

Update #2:  It’s on Reuters now.

Update #3: It hit (no pun intended) CNN now.

Update #4:  I don’t normally lose it, but I can’t believe such idiots existChinese EarthQuake Hits 7.4: Karma for Tibet Violence.  Jerk. smile_angry (pardon my French).

    sir
I am working on earthquake prediction since last 13 years . My theory is based n tidal force theory. Following are the dates in May 2008 when major quakes will be witnessed .
    5th , 6th , 10 th, 13th , 17 th , 20th , 24 th and 28 th . All these days will witness quakes more than 7.0 on Ritcher scale
    regards

Amen. God, people, get a grip. I’m fairly sure the all loving omnipotent being some call God doesn’t punish governments by sending hurricaines through trailer parks full of poor people and kids (hypothetically speaking). If this is the new morality, the new religion, thanks, but I’ll pass on the indigo ‘peace if it’s in my personal best interests’ train…

  4. Internet put us in an age of “Everybody is News Reporter and Receiver”.

  6. To the immature spammers from the Qatar Foundation: do you even realize that your IP address is recorded when you comment on a blog?
Rest assured your handiwork has been reported to the Foundation.

  7. The events made me really depressed.
I really do hope everyone can work in harmony.
    KARMA?
    WTF FUCKER.
I really agree with you on that jerk, this is no matter to involve Tibet and about the death of 50,000 Han Chinese people.

  10. Yes, now twitter is becoming a major news source. We are living in the age of internet and it is still a lot of room for the progress.
