Just curious if you have changed your syncing-backing up strategy. Last time I posted you were using Live Mesh, Syncplicity and Mozy. Thanks for the update.

The only issue I have with Syncplicity (or I’d have already purchased a subscription) is their failure to communicate. I asked a question of support and also left it in their forums…nothing. It’s not like it was a difficult question…just wanted to know if I could somehow ensure I’d never have a sync back to my computer unless I authorized it.

I simply want a way to have synchronized backups of about 35GB of files and know that if I ever lose something, I can go grab it online at Syncplicity.

Definitely seems like a useful combination of services, although I would be worried that each individual feature may not be able to stand up to singularly focused competitors in each segment. FWIW- Carbonite was the best “set it and forget it” online backup service I have reviewed.

Also, looks like Syncoplicity is giving me a 503 error on all interior pages. I’m not sure if that means that teh service is permanently down or just experiencing some issues.

There is now much more to online backup then 2gigs of free space. Just about every provider will now offer 2gigs of space for free given expectations that a certain percentage of users will upgrade. Two gigs just isn’t enough any more so if you want to get a proper test drive or even a chance of not needing to upgrade or close the account (which amounts to a complete waste of archive and time) you need a five gig free starting plan. They are becoming more common. They will be universal when 5 gigs is useless (:

I’ve been using Syncplicity for a few weeks and it has great promise. Multiple folder sync, versioning and online access make this a fantastic product. It is also very encouraging that the developers have a background in Foldershare’s upbringing. Coming from 2+ years with Foldershare, I am looking forward to switching.
