My prediction is that a bunch of software will move to the cloud and for this we'll need a very light weight OS. However really 'hardcore' apps like Autocat, Photoshop, DTP tools and games are here to stay, and they need a strong OS behind them. MS will loose a lot of market share if they don't get their online act together, but it won't be going away. Question for MAC users: how in the world can i fine tune the mouse to act like it does in Windows. It's movement is so unnatural that it drives me mad and i don't even have the curiosity to go further.
