In the Technorati 10,000

I’m #9851 on Technorati  – I know,  this is nothing compared to Guy Kawasaki being #46, but hey, he was already a celebrity before starting his blog.   The funny thing is, I broke through the barrier on a week when I barely posted anything.

    Congratulations, that’s quite an achivement.

Would love to read an article on tips for moving further up the Technorati list (I’m at about 18,000 right now). One of the things about Technorati that I’ve learned is that not all links “count” (only if the blog is also registered on the site does it seem to recognize the link). Also, the stats are not updated all that frequently (and have never figured out exactly when/how they do it).

    Thanks, Dharmesh,

You’ll leave me in the dust soon:-) Seriously, you got to 18K faster than I did, and I think the “secret” isn’t really a secret, at least not to you: write original content with a strong focus. I tend to lose the focus quite often.

Commenting elsewhere is really important, I’ve been saying for a while that unless your a Technorati top 100 (well maybe 500), most of the conversation takes place outiside your blog.

Linking, linking, linking from your own posts, but unlike “common wisdom” says not just “upward”, but “downward”.

As for the count, I did not realize you have to be registered on Technorati for it to count (?). As for the updates, oh, don’t get me started, Technorati is very-very erratic in this area. There is nothing you can do about it.

Happy blogging (remember me when your in the Technorati 1000)
